The Pseudo-Body Connection: Human-Computer Interaction Based on Deepfake Technology and Its Possible Positive Social Effects

深度伪造(Deepfake)技术能够对个体的身体特征进行转译、改造与拼合,生成一个高度拟真的数字身体,即自我拟身。它中介着个体对虚拟世界的参与,又传导着虚拟世界对个体的影响,进而形成“拟身链接”的人机互动关系。在拟身链接中,个体以元件化嵌入的方式参与到虚拟世界中,实现了身体、身份与经验的扩展,并从反事实的角度对自我进行认知。基于拟身链接,深度伪造技术能够启动特定的自我感知、对可能自我进行呈现,并对个体的社会身份进行校准。由此,深度伪造技术能够为自我概念重塑与行为决策的干预提供全新的思路。

Deepfake technology can create a highly realistic digital body, namely, the pseudo-body through translating, transforming, and synthesizing one’s real physical features.Individuals’ pseudo-bodies mediate their participation in the virtual world and transmit the influence of the virtual world on themselves, thus forming the human-computer relationship termed as the “pseudo-body connection”.Based on the pseudo-body connection, individuals are able to participate in the virtual world through embedding components of their physical bodies, expand their physical bodies, identities, and experiences, and understand themselves from a counterfactual perspective.Based on the pseudo-body connection, deepfake technology can prime specific self-perception, represent possible selves, and adjust individuals’ social identities.As a conclusion, deepfake technology can provide new approaches for self-concept adjustment and decision-making intervention.
