Stage as one of the traditional Chinese architectural types, with the development of drama in Yuan Dynasty, the shape was gradually established. After the development of Ming and Qing Dynasties, it was frequently built in the vast rural temples and became an indispensable building in theTemple theater. In addition, the development of traditional opera in the temple has experienced the functional transformation from paying God to entertaining people, which, to a certain extent, drives the temple theater gradually from a place of religious sacrifice to a place of public activities. Based on literature reading and field research, this paper classifies and analyzes the spatial elements and layout of the temple theatres in southern Shanxi, and then discusses the general evolution of the temple theatres in southern Shanxi.
