The General Catalogue of Siku Quanshu systematically and accurately narrates the process of the ancient prose revolution in the Tang and Song Dynasties,and establishes the genealogy of the main figures of the movement in each period of the Tang and Song Dynasties.The General Catalogue affirms the evolution of literary style caused by the movement,and meanwhile it also criticizes its style of being obscure and its biased attitude towards parallel prose.New comments of The General Catalogue of Siku Quanshu on the ancient prose movement have been accepted by modern and contemporary literary history and the proposal of combining ancient prose with parallel prose has been gradually strengthened and revolutionized during the New Culture Movement,which has influenced the construction of the literary history of the next generations.
