At the end of the 18th century, economics developed into a systematic economic science in Europe, while Chinese economic thought was still in the pre-scientific stage. After the mid-19th century, the traditional mode of production and culture of China were impacted by western industrial civilization. With the spread of foreign academic thoughts, the Chinese intellectuals in modern times deconstructed economic thoughts from Chinese ideology and culture with reference to the economic science in Europe and the United States, which laid the foundation for the disciplinary development of Chinese economic thoughts. These attempts may be preliminary, but the economic scientization of Chinese traditional economic thoughts in modern times promoted the localized development of economic research, which can be said to be an epitome of the early development of Chinese philosophy and social science. Exploring the disciplinary construction of Chinese traditional economic thought in modern economics can provide helpful enlightenment to the construction of socialist political economy with Chinese characteristics.
