In the theoretical system of cultural semiotics of the Tartu-Moscow School,“urban semiotics”is an indispensable part that eminent scholars such as Lotman,Uspensky,and Toporov have all discussed.Among their studies,Toporov's thoughts are the most representative.His thoughts of“binary opposition”,“myth”and“textuality”of the Petersburg sign almost encompass the perspectives and characteristics of urban semiotics of the Tartu-Moscow School,and empirically study the“language coding method”of achieving the above characteristics from the perspective of cultural semiotics,which contributes to the comprehensive interpretation of the connotation and structural characteristics of the“Petersburg text”.
