A Study on Tang Shunzhi′s Criticism of Historical Records and Hanshu in Mid-Ming Dynasty

在注重汉史研习的社会风尚影响下,在应对科举考试和深入参与明中叶的古文运动需求的推动下,唐顺之批选了《史记》《汉书》。唐顺之批选《史记》《汉书》的学术行为,既体现了其对《史记》《汉书》的认可和推崇,也在文字训诂、史事考实以及经世致用和“异端”史学思想方面表现出一些新的变化,从而成为明中后期相关史学思潮的有机组成部分。

Under the influence of the social customs that the rulers advocated emphasizing the study of Han history and the impetus of responding to the imperial examination and the need to deeply participate in the ancient prose movement in the middle of the Ming Dynasty, Tang Shunzhi criticized Historical Records and Hanshu. Tang Shunzhi′ s academic behavior in criticizing Historical Records and Hanshu not only reflected his recognition and admiration of Historical Records and Hanshu, but also in terms of textual exegesis, assessment of historical events, statecraft and heretical historical thinking showed some new changes, which has become s become an organic part of the relevant historical trends in the middle and late Ming Dynasty.
