构造手性超表面的新途径:自旋解耦和干涉

New approach for chiral metasurface: spin decoupling and interference

摘要 手性物质对入射的左右旋圆偏振光表现出不同的相互作用,表现为圆二色性和光学活性.经过特殊设计的二维和三维手性超材料能够表现出比天然材料大得多的手性响应.近日,研究人员通过引入非手性超原子间的破坏性干涉提出了一种新型的全硅手性超表面.基于自旋解耦的设计原则,他们展示了高效的圆二色性产生和手性波前调控.这种灵活、高效的手性超表面实现方案可以为手性器件的发展带来新的思路. Chiral materials exhibit different interactions with the incident left-handed circularly polarized(LCP) and right-handed circularly polarized(RCP) waves, showing as circular dichroism and optical activity. Specially designed twodimensional and three-dimensional chiral metamaterials exhibit much greater chiral responses than natural materials.Recently, a novel kind of all-silicon chiral metasurfaces is proposed by introducing destructive interference between achiral meta-atoms. Based on the principle of spin-decoupling, the generation of efficient circular dichroism and chiral wavefront modulation have been demonstrated. It is believed that this flexible and efficient implementation solution of chiral metasurface can bring new ideas to the development of chiral devices in the future.
