高校英语听说类课程教学模式构建实证研究——基于“以续促学”原则

摘要 英语听说能力是对外交流的纽带,是我国大学生必备的技能。“以续促学”原则以学生为本,以语境为基础,以“续作”为方式,将互动协同理论与外语教学紧密结合,促使知识迅速有效地转化为技能。本文通过一项实证研究,考察与传统的概要总结式和话题议论式表达法相比,续说任务在高校英语听说类课程中的教学效果。结果表明:续说任务比概要总结和话题议论任务更有助于学生习得二语词汇与句式;学生在续说任务中发生的语法语用错误少于概要总结和话题议论任务;采用续说法进行教学的学生在期末英语听说测试和口语测试中的表现优于采用概要总结和话题议论方法进行教学的学生。“以续促学”原则在高校英语听说类课程中的应用,既证实该教学理念有利于提高课堂教学质量,培养学生的英语听说能力,也为该理念的实践提供了经验和对策。 English listening and speaking ability is not merely the link for foreign exchanges,but an essential skill for Chinese college students as well.The extension hypothesis is student-oriented and context-based.Through extension activities,it closely integrates the theory of interaction and assimilation with foreign language teaching,thus promoting the rapid and effective conversion of knowledge into skills.By means of an empirical study,this paper investigates the teaching effect of the extended speaking task in college English listening and speaking courses compared with the traditional summaries and topic-discussion expressions.The results show that the extended speaking task was more helpful for students to acquire second language vocabularies and sentence patterns than the summary and topicdiscussion tasks;students make fewer grammatical and pragmatic errors in the extended speaking tasks than in the summary and topicdiscussion tasks;students taught in the context of extended speaking performed better on final English listening and speaking tests than those taught in the context of summary and topic-discussion methods.The application of the extension hypothesis in college English listening and speaking courses not only proves that the teaching concept is beneficial to improving the quality of classroom teaching and cultivating students’listening and speaking ability,but also provides experience and countermeasures for the practice of the concept.
