摘要
泥河湾盆地地处黄土高原东北部边缘,是汾渭裂谷东北端的一个晚新生代断陷盆地[1]。自1924年英国地质学家巴尔博发现并命名“泥河湾层”以来,对泥河湾盆地的科学探索与研究工作已持续百年。截至目前,泥河湾盆地内已发现早更新世中期至晚更新世末的旧石器时代遗址300余处。
The Paleolithic site at Zhuwobu was discovered and underwent trial excavation in 2014,yielding 546 artifacts.Stone artifacts,made mainly from basalt,andesite,and silicalite,include hammers,cores,debitage,and tools belonging to the flake-tool technological system.Faunal fossil remains are predominated by ungulate animals such as antelopes,horses,and rhinoceros.Artificial cutting and chop marks are also found on bone surfaces.ESR dating suggests the site dates to the middle Pleistocene,about 500,000 years BP.The site thus represents the oldest cultural remains ever found in the Huailai Basin.
