新中国成立后,面对西方大国的战争威胁和核讹诈,毛泽东强烈地认识到拥有先进武器装备对于巩固国家政权、维护国家安全的极端重要性,明确提出建设现代化国防的目标。立足新中国的基本国情,毛泽东领导中国人民实现了常规武器由装配仿制到自主研制的转变,创建了保障尖端武器成功研制的举国体制,建立了支撑国防现代化建设的工业科技体系,走出了武器装备现代化建设的中国道路,为新时代中国武器装备现代化建设奠定了基础、提供了经验。

After the founding of the People’s Republic of China(PRC),facing the threat of war and nuclear blackmail by the Western powers,Mao Zedong saw the vital importance of the advanced weaponry for the consolidation of state power and the maintenance of national security.He clearly put forward the goal of building modern national defense.Based on the basic national conditions of the PRC,Mao Zedong led the Chinese people to realize the transformation of the conventional weapons from assembly imitation to independent development,and created the mechanism to ensure the successful development of sophisticated weapons.The industrial science and technology system supporting the modernization of national defense was constructed.China has walked out the Chinese road of modernization of weaponry,which has laid a solid foundation and provided historical reference for the modernization of weaponry in the new era.
