A Comparative Study of the Writing of Lin Yutang in the Four Authoritative Literary History Works in the United States

在1988年至2010年已出版的《哥伦比亚中国文学史》《剑桥中国文学史》《哥伦比亚美国文学史》《剑桥美国文学史》等四部文学史著作中,林语堂是唯一一位都能在其中占有一席之地的中国作家。在上述四部文学史著作的林语堂书写中,国外文学史编者坚持他者视域的个性化文学史阐释路径、杂糅相关文学史料、结合文化研究的微观视角和比较文学的研究视野等多样化的文学批评方法。

Lin Yutang is the only Chinese writer who can hold a literary position in the four literary history works published from 1988 to 2010,including The Columbia History of Chinese Literature,The Cambridge History of Chinese Literature,Columbia Literary History of the United States and The Cambridge History of American Literature.It is found that the editors make use of such various literary critical methods as adhering to the individualized interpretation path of the literary history from the perspective of the other,mixing literary historical materials,combining the microscopic perspective of cultural research and the research horizon of comparative literature in the writing of Lin Yutang’s literary history in the United States.
