In order to control effectively the generation of disinfection by-products in the chlorination process, the effect of potassium ferrate(Fe(VI))pre-oxidation on the generation potential of disinfection by-products in the subsequent chlorination process was investigated with aniline(AN)as the target pollutant. In this study,we explored the effect of Fe(VI)concentration, chlorination pH value, liquid chlorine concentration, chlorination time and water quality background composition on the formation potential of disinfectant by-products.Results indicated that the high concentration of Fe(VI)(150μmol/L)pre-oxidation could reduce the generation potential of each disinfection by-product.And the chlorination pH value affected the existence form of liquid chlorine and the stability of the disinfection by-product,which had different impact on the generation potential of each disinfection by-product.Besides,the formation potential of disinfection by-products was significantly affected by the concentration of liquid chlorine and chlorination time. Moreover, coupling Fe(VI)oxidation process before chlorination process could obviously reduce the generation potential of disinfectant by-products in actual water.
