摘要
民族学类的期刊封面借鉴民族图形元素融入现代设计的表现形式越来越展现出特有的艺术魅力和传播力。本文以中国少数民族的藏族、羌族、彝族及其他少数民族图形以及《西藏民族大学学报(哲学社会科学版)》《中南民族大学学报(人文社会科学版)》《广西民族研究》《民族学刊》等几个特色鲜明的民族学类期刊封面的民族图形为例进行对比及相关性研究。民族图形元素在现代民族学类的期刊封面设计中的具体应用,其深刻的艺术价值和文化价值以及图形语言的传播形式,有利于进一步探究民族图形元素在现代民族学类的期刊封面设计中再利用、再创造的可能性以及其价值和意义,也为现代民族学类的期刊封面设计的研究和发展提供一些思考和设计路径。
Ethnic graphics are the aggregation and embodiment of various ethnic cultures,and their value is unlimited. The transformation of ethnic graphic elements into the modern design of the covers of ethnology periodicals increasingly shows its unique artistic charm and communicative power. From the perspectives of inheritance and development,ethnic graphics are the crystallization of the wisdom of human sages,and they are an inexhaustible source for our design art. How to recognize and use ethnic graphic elements to assist the cover design of modern ethnological periodicals,and how to reinterpret them while remaining firmly rooted in tradition,are also a manifestation of the context. Based on in-depth analysis and research of ethnic graphics, we should fathom their essences,take reference from their art forms,keep their art charm,and finally integrate them into modern designs suitable for the covers the ethnology journals;the goal is to introduce more and profound culture into the cover design of ethnology journals. This article conducts a comparative study between the ethnic graphics of Tibetan,Qiang,and Yi cultures et cetera and those of ethnic graphics appearing on the covers of several distinctive ethnology journals in China,such as Journal of Xizang Minzu University( Philosophy and Social Sciences Edition),Journal of South-Central Minzu University( Humanities and Social Sciences),Guangxi Ethnic Studies and Journal of Ethnology. It proposes that the application of ethnic graphic elements to the cover design of ethnology journals has profound artistic-cultural value,and also provides us with some insights and paths for research or development of the cover designs of present ethnology journals in China.The unique graphics of various ethnic groups have been given a new meaning and have been used by contemporary designers-they take reference from regional ethnic graphics,develop them,and use them in the cover design of contemporary ethnological periodicals-these graphic elements provide a creative source in designing the covers of ethnology journals. It is worth noting that when we take references from autochthonous graphic elements,we must( 1) focus on the essence and discard the rest;( 2) use modern design methods and principles to uncover,integrate,and refine ethnic graphic elements;( 3) redefine and develop ethnic graphics according to the requirements of modern aesthetics and design rules;and( 4) endow ethnic graphics with more lasting appeal and deeper meaning.A culture that is national is also international.In their long historical development processes,the evolution of various ethnic graphics also assumes strong ethnic and regional characteristics,and it is precisely these characteristics that have led to various unique cultural graphic symbols and art forms.However,while applying ethnic graphic elements to the cover design of ethnological periodicals,they must be universal as well and conform to current aesthetic and design principles;otherwise,it can’t be able to walk towards the world. It is our duty to use ethnic graphic elements to tell the story of our nation and the story of China in the cover designs of modern ethnological periodicals.
