Philosophical Reflections on Sun Tzu’s Theory of Situation

系统阐述了孙子“势”的哲学内涵,指出“势”是客观存在的,具有普遍性,因此,战争指导者要利用客观存在的“势”,发挥主观能动作用,灵活运用“奇正”,出奇制胜,实现军事力量的倍增。战势的优劣由战争力量决定,而创造有利的战势需要指挥员的谋略来实现。善于指挥作战的人,在平时会积形造势,造成战略上的整体优势,在战时会知势任势,因“势”施谋,任“势”成事。

This paper systematically expounds the philosophical connotation of“situation”and points out that“situation”exists objectively and is universal.Therefore,military leaders should make use of the objectively existing situation,exert subjective initiative and flexibly use“direct and indirect methods”to win by surprise and achieve a multiplication of military power.The pros and cons of the military situation are determined by the military power,and the creation of a favorable military situation is up to the strategies and tactics of the commanders.Those who are good at commanding operations will build up momentum in peace time,resulting in an overall strategic advantage and will know the situation and follow the situation to win the success in war time.
