丁日昌对西学文献的收藏与引进

A Study on Ding Richang’s Collection and Introduction of Western Literature

丁日昌是近代广东著名的藏书家。学术界对于丁氏藏书的研究多集中在其古籍收藏方面的成就,较少关注其在西书的收藏与引进方面的功绩。丁日昌收藏了明清之际传教士的西学著作和19世纪中期出版的西学书籍。在引进西书方面,丁日昌编译了《炮录》《枪炮操法图说》《地球图说》《法人游探记》《西法炮台图说》,推动了《火器略说》的翻译。丁日昌收藏和引进西学文献的特点有:所藏明清之际的西学文献不乏善本;引进图书以西方枪炮著作为主;注重引入内容的科学性;所编译的西学著作大多未出版。丁日昌作为一名洋务大臣,他在西学方面的造诣引起了地方士人对西学的关注,开地方文化新风。

Ding Richang was a famous bibliophile in modern Guangdong.The academic research on Ding’s collection mainly focuses on his achievements in the collection of ancient books,less on the collection and introduction of Western Literatures.Ding Richang collected western literature of missionaries in the Ming and Qing Dynasties and Western books published in the mid-19th century.In introducing western books,Ding Richang compiled Paolu,Qiangpaocaofatushuo,diqiutushuo,farenyoutanji,xifapaotaitushuo and promoted the translation of huoqilueshuo.The western literature collected and introducted by Ding Richang has the following characteristics.Some of the western literature in the Ming and Qing Dynasties is a good copy reliable text.It is mainly about western military technology.with emphasis on scientific nature.Most Western books have not been published.As a minister of Westernization Movement,his achievements in Western learning attracted the attention of scholars in eastern Guangdong and created a new trend of culture.
