情景体验式外宣纪录片《四季中国》民俗文化负载词英译探微 被引量:3

A Study on the English Translation of Folk Culture-loaded Terms in Experiential Chinese Publicity Documentary Seasons of China

摘要 《四季中国》是新华社CNC于2019年发布的第一部向国外观众介绍中国节气文化的情景体验式宣传纪录片,推介了大量的节气民俗文化负载词。其中,不少文化负载词是第一次被翻译成英文,如何准确展示中国节气民俗文化的意涵是该纪录片字幕英译的难点。本文从克里丝汀·诺德的功能加忠诚理论切入分析情景体验式外宣纪录片的翻译伦理,探讨此类纪录片有效处理民俗文化负载词英译的多元策略,并借助词频分析论证纪录片的文化传播效果。情景体验式外宣纪录片通过声像一体的多模态信息传递模式,采用工具型翻译策略下追求相似功能形式的增补信息、明晰化翻译、套译等翻译方法突出译文的指称功能和提升译文的可读性,采用逐行对照和逐词对应形式的纪实性翻译策略传译特色民俗文化负载词,在满足观众审美期待的同时也有效推广了中国传统民俗文化,传递了中国价值。 Seasons of China is the first experiential publicity documentary introducing Chinese solar terms and relevant folk terms to foreign audiences, which is released by Xinhua CNC in 2019. In this documentary, a great number of folk culture-loaded terms are introduced, many of which are translated into English for the first time, and thus the key for translation is to present the exact implied meaning and background of these cultural terms. From the perspective of Christiane Nord’s function plus loyalty theory, this paper analyzes the translation ethics of experiential Chinese publicity documentaries and discusses diverse translation strategies for translating cultural-loaded words in similar texts. Word cloud of comments on Seasons of China is also used to evaluate its publicity effect. In collaboration with visual, auditory and other channels’ information,translators can adopt instrumental translation strategy and use appropriate translation methods such as amplification, explication, idiomatic translation, etc. to realize the translation’s indicative function andto make the translation pleasingly readable. For folk culture-loaded terms, applying documentary translation strategy and methods such as word-for-word and interlinear translation can record and present their cultural characteristics so as to meet audiences’ expectations as well as to achieve favorable cultural communication effect in publicizing traditional Chinese folk culture.
