Jia Pingwa has always been very cautious about writing history.It was not until his new work Ancient Furnace that he formally and carefully extended his brushstrokes to the territory of history.Together with Laosheng and his recent work Shanben,the three novels formed Jia Pingwa’s unique style of historical writing.These novels show us some historical details that are not known to the world with a vivid sense of daily life.At the same time,Jia Pingwa implicitly constructs his historical concept with transcendent literary imagination.The fusion of the two has formed a unique world of historical texts,contributing to contemporary Chinese literature a new experience and literary spirit of historical writing.It is a history that takes root,a history of folk beliefs.
