清代士大夫之家的妻妾秩序与门楣维护--以郭嵩焘续娶风波为中心

Hierarchy of Wives and Concubines and Protection of Family Reputation for a Scholar⁃Bureaucrat in Qing Dynasty:A Case Study of the Crisis from Guo Songtao’s Remarriage

郭嵩焘经友人冯桂芬介绍,续娶江浙士绅钱鼎铭之妹为妻,不及一月二人仳离。士人纷纷以此责难、讥讪嵩焘,这不仅给他个人名誉造成损失,甚至对郭家门楣及其政治仕途都产生了深远影响。对此,郭嵩焘通过日记文本实现记忆的再加工,以及对妻妾形象进行带有偏向、曲笔的重新塑造,借此维护和巩固其士大夫身份与家庭门楣。

Guo Songtao(郭嵩焘),introduced by his friend Feng Guifen(冯桂芬),remarried the younger sister of Qian Dingming(钱鼎铭),a gentry in Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces.Within one month the couple divorced,for which scholars blamed and ridiculed Guo.The crisis not only hurt his personal reputation,but also had a far⁃reaching impact on Guo’s family reputation and political career.In this regard,Guo Songtao reprocessed his memory through diary texts,and reshaped the images of his wives and concubines in a biased way,so as to maintain and consolidate his status as a scholar⁃bureaucrat and his family reputation.
