中华文化典籍翻译之报道动词英译研究——以《浮生六记》四英译本为例

On the English Translation of Reporting Verbs in Chinese Classics: Taking the Four English Translations of Fusheng Liuji as an Example

本研究以《浮生六记》林语堂、Black、Pratt & Chiang、Sanders四译本为例,在语料库检索统计的基础上进行对比分析,研究四译本中报道动词的英译情况。结果发现:1.各译本基本采用“以词译词”的处理方式,同时辅以一定程度的零翻译、整体采取间接引语转述等方式;2.各译本之间在报道动词英译处理相似度、译词丰富度、译词句中位置、译词倒装情况、译词前后内容增减上,总体呈现“同中有异,异中有同”的特点;3.林译本在整体采取间接引语转述的处理方式、译词倒装情况等一些细微方面,与其他三译本有所不同;4.本研究在报道动词译词句中位置、译词倒装情况等方面,得到了与前人研究结果、研究主张不太一致的发现。

Taking the four English translations of Fusheng Liuji by Lin Yutang,Black,Pratt & Chiang and Sanders as an example,this paper makes a corpus-based comparative analysis of the English translation of reporting verbs.The results reveal that:1.the reporting verbs are mainly translated into corresponding English reporting verbs,supplemented by adopting zero translation and indirect speech as a whole;2.the four translations show both similarity and difference in the aspects of the ways of translating reporting verbs,lexical richness of the translated reporting verbs,position and inversion of the translated reporting verbs,and making addition and subtraction when translating;3.the translation by Lin Yutang is slightly different from the other three in adopting indirect speech,the inversion of the translated reporting verbs and other aspects;4.the findings of this study,in terms of the position and inversion of the translated reporting verbs,are not quite consistent with the results and claims of previous studies.
