Since the “1992 Consensus” was reached,there have been different understandings and interpretations across the Taiwan Straits.Upholding the one-China principle and the “1992 Consensus” is the firm and unswerving standpoint of the Chinese mainland.Although the KMT accepts and embraces the “1992 Consensus”,it differs from the mainland of China in some important expressions,the most typical of which is that it proposed and tenaciously defended the “1992 Consensus,one China with respective interpretations”.Soon after the ARATS and the SEF reached the consensus in 1992,the KMT summarized it as “one China with respective interpretations” and this became its mainland policy.“One China with respective interpretations” is the KMT’s incorrect interpretation of the “1992 Consensus”,which indicates that the KMT has divergences with the Chinese mainland on the connotation of the one-China,and that its mainland policy has the negative aspect of one-sided emphasis on “equality”.This paper dissects the “1992 Consensus,one China with respective interpretations” of the KMT’s mainland policy,especially “one China with respective interpretations”,as well as explains the reasons,backgrounds,characteristics and its influence.At the same time,elaborating the Chinese mainland’s basic standpoints in the right way on the 1992 Consensus,which embodies the one-China Principle.
