British and American literature contains western history,culture,art,philosophy,religious thought etc.It is a compulsory course for senior English majors.In the course of teaching British and American literature,teachers should not only pay attention to the cultivation of students'language skills,but also focus on the in-depth analysis of the ideological and cultural connotations in literature.This paper discusses the application of content-based instruction(CBI)in the teaching of British and American literature,aiming at stimulating students'interest in learning,promoting students'comprehensive development and improving the teaching effect.
