Objective New coronary pneumonia has the characteristics of strong contagion, rapid spread, and general susceptibility of the population. Frontline medical staff working in a high-risk and high-stress environment are prone to psychological problems such as anxiety and depression. Effective psychological intervention is urgently needed. This study aims to evaluate the effect of mindfulness-based stress reduction(MBSR)on perceived stress, anxiety, and depression in frontline medical staffs. Methods A total of 510 frontline medical staffs were recruited for the study, and 44 of them finally completed the study, including 20 in the experimental group and 24 in the control group. The experimental group was given 4 weeks of online MBSR training, and the control group was given psychological support. Participants were assessed using the Self-rating Anxiety Scale(SAS),Self-rating Depression Scale(SDS),and Chinese Perceived Stress Scale(CPSS)to evaluate the effect of intervention. Results The scores of SDS,SAS and CPSS of the two groups of frontline medical staff decreased significantly(P value <0.001). The score of the experimental group dropped more significantly than that of the control group(P value <0.001). Conclusion MBSR can effectively reduce the anxiety, depression and stress levels of frontline medical staff during the COVID-19 epidemic.
