The Love of a Good Woman is a short story written by the Nobel Prize winner,Alice Munro,who reveals the repulsion and horror of animality among the residents of the Wally town.Animality becomes shamefully abject,and makes people ashamed of their animal instincts.people can neither reconcile with themselves nor have real sympathy for others because they repulse the disabled and sick body.In addition,with animality being unspeakable under the patriarchal symbolic order,the Wally town is full of repressing silence.Through writing the repulsed animality,Alice Munro reveals the prejudice and repression in the Wally town and questions the binary opposition of humanity and animality.
