儋州方言的“着”兼具必要类道义情态功能和必然性认识情态功能。必要类道义情态用法源于“用、需要”义动词,必然性认识情态功能则来自义务情态功能的扩展和重新分析。跨方言和跨语言材料表明,“用、需要”义动词发展出义务情态的用法具有语言共性。

Zhe in Danzhou dialect has both necessity modality and epistemic modality. The usage of necessity modality originated from the verb “need”, and the epistemic modality come from the expansion and re-analysis of the necessity modality. The cross-dialect and cross-language investigation shows that the usage of necessity modality derived from the verb “need” has linguistic commonality.
