基于语料库的工科硕士学位论文英文摘要语类使用问题及其对策探析

A Corpus-based Study of Genre Problems in English Abstracts of Dissertations of Masters Majoring in Engineering and Their Countermeasures

通过自建语料库,对工科硕士学位论文和国际期刊论文英文摘要的语类特征进行了对比分析。结果显示,就宏观语步结构而言,工科硕士学位论文英文摘要语步缺失、语步循环和语步逆序现象较严重;就微观语言特征而言,工科硕士学位论文英文摘要被动语态使用频率过高、一般现在时使用频率略低,一般过去时使用频率过高、情态动词使用频率过低,使用类型单一。针对工科硕士学位论文英文摘要语类使用问题,提出优化课程设置,侧重学术英语写作技能训练、利用信息技术,改革学术英语写作教学模式、拓宽交流渠道,营造学术英语写作学习氛围、重视以读促写,改变学生专业文献阅读习惯等对策,以期提高工科硕士生学术英语写作技能。

This paper makes a comparative analysis of the generic features of English abstracts in dissertations of masters majoring in engineering and international journal papers through a self-built corpus.The results show that,as far as the macro move structure is concerned,the lack of move(s),the cycle of move(s)and the reverse order of move(s)are more serious;in terms of micro linguistic features,the frequency of passive voice is too high,the frequency of general present tense is slightly lower,the frequency of general past tense is too high,and the frequency of modal verbs is too low and the types are not diverse.In view of the genre problems in English abstracts of dissertations of masters majoring in engineering,this paper puts forward some countermeasures,such as optimizing the curriculum,focusing on the training of academic English writing skills,using information technology,reforming the teaching mode of academic English writing,broadening the communication channels,creating a learning atmosphere for academic English writing,attaching importance to reading to promote writing,and changing students'reading habits of professional literature,with the hope of facilitating postgraduates'academic English writing skills.
