“大明”国号与刘基

The National Title of Da Ming and Liu Ji

长期以来,学界对“大明”国号的缘起一直存在较大争议,主要有火德说、明教说与佛教说。但这些说法均经不起仔细推敲,遂难以成立。“大明”国号应来自《易经·乾卦》“大明终始”义理。在确立国号过程中,朱元璋应该是接受了谋臣刘基的建议,以寓义生生不息的“大明”为国号。

For a long time,there has been a great controversy about the origin of the national title of Da Ming among academ-ics,mainly including the Huode Theory,the Ming Religion Theory and the Buddhism Theory.However,these statements can not with-stand to scrutiny and are difficult to make sense of.The national title of Da Ming should come from the principle of“Da Ming Zhong Shi”in the Book of Changes.In the process of establishing the national title,Zhu Yuanzhang should have accepted the suggestions of Liu Ji,an adviser,and took the Daming as the national title.
