Yuan Mei was a distinguished poet in the Qianlong and Jiaqing era(1735-1820)of the Qing dynasty,renowned for his distinctive literary traits and far-reaching influence in the history of Chinese literature.With his two visits to Guilin,Yuan Mei developed a deep sentimental bond to it.Representations of its landscape and human affection there are believed to find their way into Yuan Mei’s literary works with their unique charm deeply engraved in his memory.
