As one of the most important poets in the Victorian period,Thomas Hardy is good at constructing universal themes by extracting profound thought from his personal life in the limited geographical areas.This paper intends to explore Hardy′s poetry creation concepts from the following three aspects:the dialectical relationship between locality and globality,personalization and impersonality,and the instant and the eternity,aiming to discuss Hardy′s endeavor to reveal the nature of human existence and the common law of development.Through the construction of the universal theme,Hardy expresses his profound humanistic care and unremitting exploration of the way out of the plight of human existence.
