在自然因素和社会因素的双重作用下,民国时期白洋淀地区的棉花种植取得了显著的发展,但是这种发展是缓慢而有限的。与此同时,棉纺织业广泛普及,并由传统向现代转型,新式机器推广使用且伴有棉纺织工厂的建立。棉花种植与棉纺织业的综合作用促进专业棉市的兴起与发展,加之便利的水路运输,部分集镇物资集散的功能日益凸显。这一过程的整合,既是白洋淀地区集市发展的历史面相,也反映了该地区农村经济由传统向现代转型的一个侧面。

Under the influence of both natural and social factors,the cotton planting has made considerable progress,but this kind of development was slow and limited in Baiyangdian area in the Republic of China.At the same time,the cotton textile industry has been widely popularized,and has changed from traditional to modern.New machines have been popularized and used,accompanied by the establishment of cotton textile factories.The comprehensive role of cotton planting and cotton textile industry promoted the rise and development of professional cotton markets.Coupled with convenient waterway transportation,the function of material distribution in some market towns was becoming increasingly prominent.The integration of this process was not only the historical aspect of the development of market in Baiyangdian area,but also a side of the transformation of rural economy from tradition to modernity.
