民国时期圆明园未能逃脱再遭破坏的命运,从军阀混战到日本侵华,时局动荡固然是重要因素,但当时人们将其视为封建专制帝王穷奢极欲的象征,是圆明园持续遭受破坏的重要因素。与此同时,时人痛惜国家屡遭外国野蛮之侵略,进而呼吁保存遗迹,铭记国耻,推动了圆明园从废墟到遗址保护的转变。

During the period of the Republic of China,the Yuanmingyuan failed to escape the fate of being destroyed again.From the scuffle of warlords to the Japanese invasion of China,the current situation was turbulent,which was certainly an important factor,but at that time,the more important factor for the continued destruction of the Yuanmingyuan was that people regarded it as a symbol of the extravagance and lust of the feudal autocratic emperor.At the same time,people deplored the repeated barbaric aggression of foreign countries,and then called for the preservation of relics,bearing in mind national humiliation,and promoted the transformation of the Yuanmingyuan from ruins to site protection.
