Maurizio Cattelan s Comedian is the most popular art work in 2019.Cattelan bought a banana at a local supermarket and fixed it on the wall with the grey sticky tape,which makes up the entire work of Comedian.Why can an ordinary banana become a work of art?This paper tries to answer this question from three aspects:first,Comedian is a work of art authorized by the art institution;second,Comedian has found its place in the art historical pedigree of ready-made artworks;finally,the biggest value of Comedian is that it deconstructs the artistic noumenon from the perspective of post-modernism,and the simplicity,accessibility and transmissibility of this work initiate the audience s carnival in images.
