The Hidden Pain of Modernity Wandering Between Tradition and Modernity——An Investigation Centered on JIA Pingwa’s Temporary Sitting

从《暂坐》中女性人物身上所体现出的现代性元素来看,贾平凹对该小说寄寓了明显的创作突破的意图。但他对传统与现代之间犹疑而迷茫的态度,又决定了他在小说中难以超越其惯有的文化视野,从而使得小说中的都市女性虽然时尚靓丽充满着现代气息,但缺少一种现代性人格特质;小说中的知识分子虽然看似旷达闲适,但面对强权又不得不屈从于现实,以致处于一种失语的精神境遇,这些都形成了他在小说中的现代性精神隐痛。同时,他又将这些精神之痛隐匿在极为平淡自然的日常化叙事中,形成了具有贾平凹特质的隐痛叙事美学。然而,他又总是试图从这种“隐痛”中传达出一种人生启发与生活智慧。于是,这种“情感”的隐匿与“理念”的表达,导致与其叙事的悖离与失衡,造成某些概念化与理念化的美学缺失。

from the modernity elements embodied in the female characters inTemporary Sitting,JIA Pingwa expresses the obvious intention of creative breakthrough in the novel.However,his hesitant and confused attitude towards tradition and modernity determines that it is difficult for him to go beyond his customary cultural vision in the novel,which makes the urban women in the novel,although fashionable and beautiful,full of modern flavor,completely lack modern personality;although intellectuals seem broad-minded and relaxed,they have to compromise with reality and succumb to power,which have formed the hidden pain of modernity spirit in his novels.At the same time,he hid these spiritual pain in a very plain and natural daily narrative,forming a hidden pain narrative aesthetics with JIA Pingwa’s characteristics.However,he always tries to convey a kind of life inspiration and life wisdom from this“hidden pain”.Therefore,the concealment of“emotion”and the expression of“idea”lead tonot only the deviation from its painful narration,a certain narrative imbalance,but also the lack of some conceptualized and idealized aesthetics.
