生态翻译学视域下《西游记》余国藩英译本诗词翻译探析

A Study on Poetry Translation in Anthony C・Yu's Version of The Journey to the West in Perspective of Eco-translatology

生态翻译学是译者根据翻译生态环境,进行适应性选择的翻译理论。从生态翻译学的三个维度出发,探讨余国藩对《西游记》中诗歌的翻译。其中语言维度,译者根据英美读者的阅读习惯,对构成汉语文本的语素、词、句型进行了整体的改编和适应性的转换与翻译,以实现语言维度转换的目的;文化维度,译者在翻译中根据不同的文化背景,做出不同的适应性选择,通过使用大量的注释为目标语读者消除阅读时的文化壁垒,有利于目标语读者了解中国传统文化;交际维度,译者通过交际维度的适应性选择,传达出《西游记》中诗词独特的文化意蕴,达到引导目标语读者理解中国古典小说中的诗词内涵的交际意图。

Eco-translatology is a self-contained translation theory,in which translators make adaptive choices according to the ecological environment of translation.Starting from the three dimensions of Eco-translatology,this paper discusses the poetry translation in The Journey to the West translated by Anthony C.Yu.In dimension of language,with general rearrangement,flexible transition and translation,the translator adapted the morphemes,words and sentence patterns to the reading habits of the British and American readers so that the transition purpose gets achieved.In dimension of culture,Anthony C.Yu made the adaptive choices according to different backgrounds of culture in translation.With a large number of notes and citations,he eliminated the cultural barriers in reading and indicated the direction to learn Chinese traditional culture for the target readers.In dimension of communication,with the adaptive choices in communication,Anthony C.Yu transmitted the unique cultural connotations of the poetry in The Journey to the West so that the communication purpose guiding the British and American readers to understand the significances of the poetry in Chinese classical novels gets achieved.
