英语元话语的人际修辞功能多种角度的研究

从韩礼德对纯语言功能理论和功能语法的人际语义系统的解释、古典修辞学的说服和受众理论、社会建构理论的知识和知识建构理论、布朗-莱文森的礼貌理论和体裁等理论出发,文章主要致力于提供一个多维的视角来解释英语元话语的人际修辞功能对解释理论的作用。文章的目的是揭示元话语的人际意义的潜力,阐明元话语在展示作者对新知识的贡献方面的说服力,以及允许元话语保留的作者与读者之间的关系。其包括思考如何实现它。为作者和读者提供了一个指导框架,用于解释科学研究论文的作者如何使用元话语来实现说服目标。文章还旨在通过有限的科学研究语料来检验元话语的使用是否具有普遍特征和文化差异,并为我国学术英语口语教学提供有用的参考资料。

Starting from Halliday’s interpretation of pure language functional theory and functional grammar’s interpersonal semantic system, classical rhetoric persuasion and audience theory, social construction theory of knowledge and knowledge construction theory, Brown-Levinson’s politeness theory and genre, etc., the paper mainly dedicated to providing a multi-dimensional perspective to explain the role of the interpersonal rhetoric function of English metadiscourse on the interpretation theory. The purpose of this article is to reveal the potential of metadiscourse in interpersonal meaning, to clarify the persuasive power of metadiscourse in demonstrating the author’s contribution to new knowledge, and the relationship between the author and readers that allows metadiscourse to be retained. It includes thinking about how to achieve it. It provides authors and readers a guiding framework for explaining how authors of scientific research papers use metadiscourse to achieve persuasion goals. This article also aims to test whether the use of metadiscourse has universal characteristics and cultural differences through the limited scientific research corpus, and to provide useful reference materials for the teaching of academic English writing in China.
