The Expansion and Development of Private Economy in China——A Case Study of Putian Private Hospitals

本文通过约翰·奈特(John Knight)的发展型国家理论(Developmental State Theo-ry)与倪志伟(Victor Nee)、索尼娅·奥珀(Sonja Opper)的自下而上理论(Bottom-up Theory)分析了莆田系民营医院在不同时期迅速发展壮大的原因,并进一步探究国家与市场二者在民营经济扩张与发展中的角色.这两种理论都旨在解释一个国家的政府与私营部门之间的关系.本文将莆田系民营医院的发展划分为两个时期,在第一个时期其能迅速发展主要是由于早期自身准确的市场定位和预测,在第二个时期莆田系发展的原因之一是抓住了医疗市场化的发展机遇,在此背景下扩大规模并迅速成长.在此案例下的民营企业发展过程中,政府与市场二者是一种自上而下与自下而上相结合的互动关系.

The paper is based on the Developmental State Theory of John Knight and the bottom-up Theory of Victor Nee and Sonja Opper to analyze the reasons for the rapid development and expansion of Putian private hospitals in different periods,and to further explore the role of the state and the market in the expansion and development of private economy.Both theories aim to explain the relationship between the state and the private sector in a country.This paper divides the development of Putian private hospitals into two periods.Its rapid development in the first period was mainly due to its early accurate market positioning and forecast.In the second period,one of the reasons for the development of Putian hospitals is that it seized the opportunity of medical marketization.In this case,the government and the market are a top-down and bottom-up interaction in the development of private economic.
