陌生·常规·重生——“陌生化”视域下《呼兰河传》英译本研究

Defamiliarization,Normalization and Regeneration:On English Translation of Tales of Hulan River from the Perspective of Defamiliarization

基于《呼兰河传》汉英平行语料库,采取语内对比和语际对比模式,从超常搭配、方言词汇、平行结构三个角度来考察葛浩文如何处理偏离常规的陌生化手法。研究发现,葛浩文在《呼兰河传》英译本中对“陌生化”的“度”拿捏得恰如其分,将原文中的陌生化手法控制在“无过无不及”的和谐状态。他既还“陌生”以“陌生”,再现文本的文学性,又化“陌生”为“常规”,提升译文可读性。这样的处理,有利于《呼兰河传》这朵在黑土地上绽放的奇花获得异域“重生”,同时也可为中国文学“走出去”提供借鉴与思考。

Based on the Chinese-English Parallel Corpus of Tales of Hulan River,this study by intra-and inter-language comparisons analyzes how Howard Goldblatt handles defamiliarization techniques in the English translation of Tales of Hulan River from three aspects:creative collocation,dialect vocabulary and parallelism.As the result shows,the defamiliarization in the English translation of Tales of Hulan River is carefully measured to keep balance.Such an approach can not only reproduce the literariness of the original text,but also improve the readability of the translated text,which is more conductive to the regeneration of Tales of Hulan River in foreign lands.Reflections on this case may shed light on Chinese literature’s going global.
