Three Debates on Benevolence of Confucianism in Su Dongpo’s Shu Zhuan:On Three Books Wrote by Su Dongpo in Hainan

苏东坡《书传》的仁德思想,借助对申、韩、老、庄的批评,主张怀仁义且积学而成仁义;责韩愈治儒学论理不精,甚至有所背离,以维护儒学道术,可见东坡也是儒学道统的继承者;批俗儒对召公之言的误解,揭示召公之意,以申明孔儒之德。从而可以理解苏东坡在社会治理上提出的九字方略:结人心、厚风俗、存纪纲,是他儒学思想在社会改革上的运用。

With the criticism to Shen Buhai,Hanfeizi,Laozi and Zhuangzi,Su Dongpo advocated that one should accumulate knowledge while having righteousness so as to become a benevolent man in his theory of benevolence in the book Shu Zhuan.He also criticized Han Yu’s study of Confucianism was not precise and even took depart from the origin sometimes.He believed shallow Confucian scholars misunderstood Zhaogong’s remarks.Therefore,he revealed the connotation of Zhaogong’s thoughts,so as to declare the virtue of Confucianism.All evidence shows that Dongpo is truly a successor of the tradition of the way in Confucianism.It is also from where we could undrestand Dongpo’s general plan in social governence,namely to unite people,to strengthen the customs and to preserve the regulations,which are the application of his confucianism thought in the social reform.
