Tibetan Wall Inscriptions from Kucha Grottoes:A Glimpse into the Introduction of Tubo(Tibetan)Buddhism

吐蕃第二十八代赞普拉托脱日年赞执政时期,“天降佛法”说启开了吐蕃佛教之先河。然而,据新近发现的一些资料记载,早在吐蕃第一代赞普聂赤赞普时期,吐蕃周边的佛教徒已在吐蕃境内活动,以不同的方式引荐佛教于吐蕃王室。龟兹石窟藏文壁文题记,揭开了吐蕃与吐火罗及在一带一路文化交流的历史叙事,亦为吐蕃启开了丝路文明之道。

It is commonly believed in Tibetan culture that‘God sent Buddhism to Tubo’during the 28th Tsanbo,Lhatotorinyatsan period.However,according to some newly discovered data,there were several Buddhists around Tubo already introduced Buddhism to Tubo royal families in different ways during the first Tubo Tsanbo Nie Tri Tsangpu period.The Tibetan wall inscriptions of the Kucha Grottoes unveiled the historical narrative of cultural exchanges between Tubo and Tocharo and along the Belt and Road,which also opened up the Silk Road civilization for Tubo regime.
