A Study of Luoyang Tombs With a Coffin Platform in Early Tang Dynasty

洛阳发现的4座初唐时期的棺床墓,可以分为土棺床墓和砖棺床墓两种类型。4座棺床的位置,只有1座位于墓室的北部,其余3座位于墓室的西部。土棺床墓和砖棺床墓的结构不同,砖棺床墓的结构明显要比土棺床墓复杂。洛阳发现的4座初唐棺床墓,都有随葬品,随葬品多数为陶器,种类也差不多,都有保护墓主安全的镇墓兽、武士俑,为墓主服务的陶马、陶俑,家畜,模型器具,工具和装饰品等。洛阳发现的初唐时期土棺床墓和砖棺床墓的随葬品,在数量、质量、类型等方面存在较大差别。洛阳发现的初唐时期土棺床墓和砖棺床墓,都随葬有陶器,有的陶器上有一层米黄釉,这种米黄釉是盛唐时期唐三彩釉陶器出现的先河。

There existed two patterns of coffin platforms in the four tombs of Early Tang Dynasty discovered in Luoyang,one being earthen,while the other brick-made.One of the four coffin platforms was located in the north of the tomb chamber,while the other three in the west.Quite a few of differences can be clearly seen in the structure of these two patterns of coffin platforms,with the brick construction much more complex.Burial accessories were also found with the discovery of these four tombs,most of which were earthenware,e.g.:tomb-guardian,clay warrior figures,various model tools and instruments,etc.The difference lies in the quantity,quality and types of the grave goods found in both of the earthen-coffin-platform tomb and the brick-made-coffin-platform tomb.A cream-colored glaze can also be seen in some of the potteries discovered in these tombs,which is regarded as the source of three-color glazed ceramic products in the glorious period of Tang Dynasty.
