唐代诗歌发展极盛,诗人之间的酬唱赠答成为重要文学活动。江西才子熊孺登以才情赢得声名,并且与文坛大家白居易、刘禹锡等交往密切,时相赠答。在诗歌中表现出他对社会现状的关注,对朋友亲情的珍视以及抒发个人遭际之感叹。他的诗歌清雅舒畅,情真浑厚,带有盛唐以来的清新和沉郁之格调,这与中唐诗人力争“为俗”“求实”不同,极具个人风格,成为了江西文学史上留有诗名的才子,与白、刘等诗人共同推动了唐代诗歌的发展。
