It has been a long time since women were regarded as a vulnerable and marginalized group, while The Buddha in the Attic,a novel written by Julie Otsuka, gives women an opportunity to deliver their own voices through literature and discloses the buried history of the Japanese"picture brides".The surface text of the novel is made up of three kinds of narrative voices, behind which is the brides′accusation against the objectification of women. The multiple narrative techniques not only help portray the Japanese brides as victims, but also contain the sarcasm of masculine hegemony and the condemnation of the oppression of American society on the immigrants, thus shedding light on feminine writing.
