陈尔士自幼受到良好的家庭教育及文化熏陶,成年后又嫁入秀水望族钱氏家族,丈夫博学多闻,夫妇相谐,使她得到了持续的文化滋养,并在闲暇之余进行文学创作。陈尔士才学富赡,深受儒家经学思想浸染,著书立说引经据典,其作《听松楼遗稿》中有诸多经学的阐释,行文质朴,具有乾嘉学派的治学风貌。同时又秉承传统之儒家“女教”思想,具有牺牲自我之精神,是一位相夫教子、恪尽妇职的贤妻良母,她是中国传统闺阁女性中具有德、才、美特质的一个典型缩影。

Chen Ershi received good family education and cultural influence during her childhood.When she grew up,she married into the Qian family,a famous clan in Xiushui.Her husband was erudite and they lived in harmony with each other.Therefore,she got continuous cultural nourishment and carried out literary creation in her spare time.Chen Ershi,as a gifted scholar deeply influenced by Confucian classics,wrote books and quoted classics.Her work Tingsonglou Lou Yigao contains many interpretations of Confucian classics.Her writing is simple and has the style of the Qianjia school.At the same time,she also adhered to the traditional Confucian idea of“women’s education”and had the spirit of self-sacrifice.She was a good wife and mother who assisted her husband and children and fulfilled a woman’s duty.She is a typical epitome of traditional Chinese lady of virtue,talent and beauty.
