In modern China’s cultural and historical process of Western learning spreading to the East,traditional art education whose classic paradigms were imperial painting academy and apprenticeship was faced to be transformed.Conforming to the trend of the times,cultural figures from Jiaxing actively spread the concept of modern art education to the masses and struggled to explore art education practices suitable for modern China.By introducing classic works of Western aesthetics and art education,offering modern art education courses for the first time,and compiling new art textbooks,they promoted the modern transformation of China’s art education.Their mission of enlightenment,commitment to reforming traditions and initiation of modern China’s art education composed a striking page in the history of art,art education and Jiaxing’s local culture.
