“横屿之战”位置考

A Textual Research on the Location of the Battle of Hengyu

“横屿之战”是嘉靖年间十年抗倭的转折点,也是倭寇被逐的开端。范中义《戚继光传》中作有《横屿之战作战经过示意图》,而所标“横屿”战场位置存疑。经多方史料与地图的考证,范著“横屿”的地理位置应有误。四百多年前“横屿之战之‘横屿’”,名称与大致方位至今应是未变。

The Battle of Hengyu was the turning point of the ten-year Anti-Japanese War during the reign of Jiajing of the Ming Dynasty and also marked the beginning of Japanese pirates’ expulsion from China. In Biography of Qi Jiguang by Fan Zhongyi, the location of the marked “Hengyu” in the Sketch Map of the Battle of Hengyu is doubtful. The textual research on various historical records and maps proves the geographical location of “Hengyu” in Fan’s book very likely to be wrong. The location of Hengyu in the Battle of Hengyu, which took place over 400 years ago, should remain unchanged till now.
