The bronze gui vessels with inscription Yan and Huai are probably two pieces of historical objects of late section of Mid-Western Zhou dynasty according to the inscriptions cast on them. The owners of these two gui vessels,Yan and Huai and as well as the owner of a ding vessel with inscription Kang that has been handed down from ancient time, are successive three generations from the family of Zheng Xing, who all served the King of Zhou and in charge of the miscellaneous business of the King’s family throughout their whole lives. The Xian Xing,Zheng Xing and Feng Xing are three main branches of Xing’s family through identified Xian Xing and inscriptions on other bronze wares made by Xing family. The original Xing’s fiefdom was near to Feng Jing, the early capital of Zhou.Later on,due to the family growing posterity, one branch was assigned to Western Zheng area, another branch was assigned to Xian area.Hence there were Zheng Xing,Xian Xing and the original Feng Xing respectively.
