归化异化视角下小说《带灯》中俗语的翻译评析

The Translation of Common Sayings in the Novel The Lantern Bearer Traslated by Carlos Rojas

俗语贯穿于贾平凹长篇小说《带灯》的始末,凸显了小说的地域特色与人物形象,增强了小说的语言感染力。对其准确理解与恰当翻译是该部小说翻译的一大难点。通过文本细读发现:罗鹏灵活选用了归化与异化策略以及直译、套译与意译三种方法翻译了《带灯》中的俗语,译文尽可能地保留了原文的文化与语言特色,同时便于译入语读者理解和接受;然而罗鹏曲解并误译了原文中的个别俗语,消极误译导致译文个别地方晦涩难懂。

Common sayings, which run through from the beginning to the ending of Jia Pingwa’s novel The Lantern Bearer, not only highlight the novel’s regional features and traits of characters, but also enhance its appeal of language. Accurate understanding and proper translation of common sayings is a difficult point in the translation of this novel. By close reading, it is found that Carlos Rojas flexibly adopts the translation strategies of domestication and foreignization as well as the translation methods of literal translation, borrowing translation and free translation to translate the common saying in this novel;the translated texts not only retain as much as possible the cultural and linguistic characteristics of the original texts, but also are easy to be understood and accepted by the target readers. However, Carlos Rojas misunderstands and mistranslates a few common sayings in this novel, which result in the obscurity of some parts of the translated texts.
