论20世纪后期西方学者对中国家具研究的转型——以韩蕙《中国古典家具的光辉》为中心

Transformation of Western Scholars’Research on Chinese Furniture in the Late 20^(th) Century——Based on the Austere Luminosity of Chinese Classical Furniture written by Han Hui

西方学者对中国家具的研究经历了由浅入深、由表及里的历程,并在20世纪后期发生了一次显著的转型,更新了西方学界对中国家具的传统认知。其中美国学者韩蕙的《中国古典家具的光辉》(Austere Lumin osity of Chinese Classical Furniture)具有开拓意义。本文通过梳理从“内部研究”扩展到“外部研究”视角下中国形象所呈现的形象衍变,以辨析其研究视角、方法观念以及对材料应用的方式,进而总结出20世纪以来西方学者的研究存在研究背景单一、发展过程缓慢的特征。在跨文化视域下,西方学者的研究方法和理论,也启发了中国家具研究的发展方向与道路。

Western scholars’research on Chinese furniture has experienced a process from the elementary to the profound,from the surface to the centre,and has undergone a significant transformation in the late 20th century,which has reshaped the traditional cognition of Chinese furniture in the western academic circle.Therein,the Austere Luminosity of Chinese Classical Furniture written by an American scholar Han Hui is of pioneering significance.This paper analyzes the evolution of Chinese images from the perspective of"internal research"to"external research",in order to distinguish their research perspectives,ideas and methods of material application.Then it concludes that the research of western scholars since the 20th century has the characteristics of single research background and slow development.From the cross-cultural perspective,the research methods and theories of western scholars have also inspired the development direction and path of Chinese furniture research.
