摘要
文章以82篇中美高校校长毕业致辞为语料,分析中美校长使用的称呼语类型,并探讨致辞中称呼语的语用差异。研究发现,中美校长均通过人称代词来建构同伴身份,拉近与听众的距离。不同之处在于,中国校长注重使用多种称呼语来建构多重自我身份以及人际关系,且在提及他者时表现出更强的礼貌意识;而美国校长则通过称呼语将听众划分为更多的子群体,并建构特定语用身份。
By taking 82 commencement speeches from Chinese and American presidents as data,this paper is to analyze the types and the pragmatic differences of the terms of address used by Chinese and American university presidents.It is found that both Chinese and American presidents use pronouns to construct peer identity to get close to the audience.Chinese presidents pay more attention to the construction of self-identity and interpersonal relationship,and present stronger awareness of politeness when mentioning the third party.While American presidents use different terms of address to divide the audience to more subgroups and construct specific pragmatic identities.
