Legal English falls into the category of English for special purposes and has formed its own distinctive lexical features,such as the use of archaic words,hereof for example,which fulfill an important function of lexical cohesion and grammatical cohesion.Having a good understanding of functions and exact meaning of these archaic words in legal English text and finding feasible translating methods will be of great practical significance for the comprehension and translation of legal English text.
