In 2010,Howard Jacobson won the Man Booker Prize for his novel The Finkler Question. The novel explores Jewish identity,anti-Zionism,anti-Semitism and other issues based on the lives of the non-Jewish Treslove and his two Jewish friends Finkler and Libor. The author not only discusses the Jewish problem by creating the image of Treslove, but also reveals Treslove’s pursuit of Jewish culture through his lust for Jewish women. In this pursuit process, the author explores the more general issues of desire and self, and at the same time it shows the author’s deeper concern about the loss of subjectivity when modern people take others’desires as their own.
